Marc Raibert Biography

Marc Raibert is the founder of Boston Dynamics, a company that develops some of the world’s most advanced - and most recognizable - robots.

Boston Dynamics' robots are inspired by animals' remarkable ability to move with agility, mobility, dexterity, and speed. Their dynamic behavior contributes to their accomplishing real-world tasks and appearing lifelike.

Prior to founding Boston Dynamics in 1992, Marc was Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT. Before that he was Associate Professor of Computer Science and a member of the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. While at MIT and CMU, Marc founded the Leg Laboratory, which helped establish the scientific basis for highly dynamic robots. He was inducted into the National Academy of Engineering in 2008.
