Marc Newson has been dubbed "his generation's most influential designer." He's worked on everything from furniture and household things to bicycles and automobiles, private and commercial airplanes, yachts, different architectural assignments, and distinctive sculptural creations for customers all over the world. Newson, who was born in Sydney, spent most of his youth traveling across Europe and Asia.
As a student, he began experimenting with furniture design and was granted a grant from the Australian Crafts Council with which he organized his first show, which featured the Lockheed Lounge, a piece that has since set three consecutive world records at auction twenty years later.
