Lisa Anderson Biography

Lisa Anderson worked at Harvard University from 1981 to 1986 as an Assistant Professor of Government and Social Studies, Director of Columbia's Middle East Institute from 1990 to 1993, Chair of the Political Science Department from 1994 to 1996, and Dean of the School of International and Public Affairs since 1997. Professor Anderson is the author of Pursuing Truth, Exercising Power: Social Science and Public Policy in the Twenty-First Century (Columbia University Press, 2003), The State and Social Transformation in Tunisia and Libya, 1830-1980 (Princeton University Press, 1986), and Transitions to Democracy (Princeton University Press, 1986). (Columbia University Press, 1999). She is the Chair of the Social Science Research Council's Board of Directors. She is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and a former member of the Human Rights Watch Board of Directors.
