Linda L. Singh Biography

In May 2019, Secretary of Defense James Mattis named retired Major General Linda L. Singh to the Reserve Forces Policy Board (RFPB). She was also assigned to the RFPB subcommittee on Enhancing DoD's Role in the Homeland, which focuses on strengthening the reserve component's capabilities and capacity to meet rising homeland threats. The 29th Adjutant General of Maryland, retired Major General Linda L. Singh, was appointed on January 21, 2015. The Maryland Military Department, which comprises the Maryland Army National Guard, Maryland Air National Guard, Maryland Emergency Management Agency, and Maryland Defense Force, reports to the Adjutant General. She is a senior counselor to the governor and is in charge of the Military Department's preparedness, management, and training of approximately 6,700 personnel with an annual budget of more than $314 million. She is a member of the governor's cabinet and acts as the official conduit of communication between the governor and the National Guard Bureau as the Adjutant General. General Singh is a long-time Maryland resident of Prince George's County, where she presently resides with her husband and two kids. She grew up in Frederick County, Maryland. Officer Candidate School at the Maryland Military Academy in Reisterstown, Maryland, earned her a commission in 1991. She has served in the military for more than 30 years, in both the enlisted and officer ranks. She has held positions of staff and leadership at all levels, including deployments in Kosovo and a combat tour in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. In May of 2016, she left Accenture's Health and Public Service North America operating business as Managing Director. Her responsibilities included overseeing all operational operations with a budget of more than $3 billion dollars, including financials, strategic business plans, quality programs, program delivery programs, human resource management, business approvals, internal controls, and sales activities. She oversaw a worldwide team that drew on Accenture's global public service skills as well as external partnering connections. She was formerly the Commercial Director for the Public Safety Portfolio, as well as the account lead for Veterans Affairs and the Army.
