He was conceived in Milan in 1935. He is the organizer of Luxottica Group and has been Chairman of the Board since it was shaped in 1961. He has been designated Executive Chairman on January 29, 2016. In 1986 the President of the Republic of Italy gave on Mr. Del Vecchio the respect of Cavaliere dell' Ordine al ""Merito del Lavoro"" (Knight of the Order for Labor Merit). In May 1995 he got a privileged degree in Business Administration from Venice Cà Foscari University. In 1999 he got a Master honoris causa in International Business from MIB-Management School in Trieste and in 2002 he got a privileged degree in Managerial Engineering from the University of Udine. In March 2006 Mr. Del Vecchio got another privileged degree in Materials Engineering from Politecnico of Milan. In December 2012 the Foundation CUOA granted him a privileged graduate degree in Business Administration."
