Lauryn Williams Biography

Lauryn Williams is a writer, podcaster, public speaker, and volunteer. But that isn't why most people know her name. She started competing at the elite level in two Olympic sports for twelve years. Williams made four US Olympic teams, winning one gold and two silver medals. She is also the first woman in American history to win medals in both the Summer and Winter Olympics. She may be small in stature, standing only 5'3-1/4, but the frequency of her churning legs was unrivalled, making her difficult to beat. She announced her retirement from track and field after three Olympic Games in 2013. Williams, on the other hand, was inspired by a chance meeting to try her hand at bobsledding. Her next Olympic journey began less than a week after she first touched a sled. She competed in her fourth Olympic Games six months later. While his athletic career had been incredible, Williams had always desired to be prepared for a life away from the field of play. While competing, she earned a BA and an MBA in Finance and Business. She became a Certified Financial Planner after retiring with a passion for empowering others with financial literacy. She now runs her own financial planning firm, Worth Winning, where she helps young professionals and athletes organise and optimise their finances. Her passion is to make people feel comfortable talking about money. Her podcast Worth Listening shares the financial stories of other professionals to empower listeners to be open about and in control of their own money storey. Despite the fact that she wears many hats, she makes it a point to donate some of her time to various causes. She is a member of the Junior League, the USATF Athlete Advisory Committee, the United States Anti Doping Agency, and the World Anti Doping Agency as well as the World Anti-Doping Agency. Williams released her first book, The Oval Office: a 4x Olympian's Guide to Professional Track & Field, in 2019 to assist the next generation of track and field athletes. Williams, who lives in Dallas with her husband and Great Dane, is on a mission to reach as many folks as she can in her lifetime.
