Lauren Templeton Biography

Lauren C. Templeton is the founder and president of Templeton & Phillips Capital Management, LLC, a Chattanooga-based value investment firm. The Global Maximum Pessimism Fund's general partner is the business. Templeton graduated from the University of the South with a bachelor's degree in economics. She is the founder and past president of the Atlanta-based Southeastern Hedge Fund Association, Inc. Templeton is a member of the Baylor School's Board of Trustees, The Beacon Center of Tennessee's Board of Advisors, and the Atlas Board of Overseers. Templeton is a member of Rotary International as well. She is a member of Chattanooga Rotary Club 103's investment committee as well as The Rotary Foundation's investment committee. Templeton has previously served as President of the Atlanta Hedge Fund Roundtable and Director of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga's Galtere Institute: Finance for the Future Initiative. Templeton has also served on the Board of Directors of the Memorial Hospital Foundation, the Finance Advisory Board of the University of Tennessee Chattanooga, and the Board of Directors of the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce. Templeton is also the co-author of Investing the Templeton Way: Market-Beating Strategies of a Legendary Bargain Hunter, published by McGraw Hill in 2007, and which has been translated into nine languages. Lauren and her husband, Scott Phillips, live in Chattanooga. Scott is a portfolio manager for the Global Maximum Pessimism Fund and author of the investing book Buying at the Point Maximum Pessimism: Six Value Investing Trends from China to Oil to Agriculture, 2010, FT Press, and co-author of the revised edition of The Templeton Touch, 2012, Templeton Press.
