Larry Little Biography

Unlike most other Miami Dolphins performers of the 1970s, Larry Little started his career with the San Diego Chargers as an underappreciated free broker in 1967. Little, a two-way tackle, team captain, and The all selection at Bethune-Cookman, had only limited success in San Diego. However, he was bought and sold to the Dolphins a little before the 1969 season. Soon after, the 6-1, 265-pound shield was lauded as one of the best offensive linemen in the National Football League. During the 1970s, when the Dolphins were the prevailing team in the NFL, he was a regular at right guard. Little embodied the agressive force of Miami's renowned passing attack. Little was indeed a fantastic pass blocker. At the defensive line, he was ferocious, particularly as the lead blocker on the Dolphins' potent sweeps. From 1971 to 1975, and again in 1977, he was named first-team All-NFL. Little too was named All-NFL second team in 1978 as well as all five times. Larry was chosen to appear in 5 Pro Bowls (1970, 1972, 1973, 1974, and 1975). Little was given the name AFC Lineman of the Year three times: in 1970, 1971, and 1972. Don Shula, a coaching legend, described him as a true inspiration, not only for the way he works but also for his impact on our youth players. Little was one of the toughest players to ever play professional football. Even though he was troubled by knee, ankle, and leg injuries all through his professional life, During his first 11 seasons with the Dolphins, he only skipped four games.
