Kristin Key grew up in a tiny town in West Texas as the minister's daughter. She was brought up in a no-drinking, no-dancing, no-instrumental music environment, similar to Footloose, so she immediately took up drinking, dancing, and playing instruments. She appeared to be any other well-behaved girl... until she opened her quick-witted mouth, displaying her undeniable sense of humour, so she added stand-up comedy to her vices. She opted to attempt stand-up comedy at a local comedy club when she was 19, while studying to be a paramedic. It was clear as soon as she took the stage that she had found what she had been looking for. Over the next five years, she climbed the comedy ladder one rung at a time, starting with small shows in the Texas panhandle and expanding to 35 states. Audiences couldn't get enough of the Preacher's Kid's fast-paced style of comedy, and while female comics struggled to find work, she was booked not because she was a woman, but because she was funny. When Last Comic Standing held auditions in Austin, Texas, she, like every other Texas comic, stood in line, hoping to be seen. After 7 hours of waiting, she was given her chance and a trip to Hollywood to compete against the best in the comedy world. Years of working as a road comic paid off; she made it to the final six, and her fan base grew. After receiving approval from millions of comedy fans on NBC's Last Comic Standing, she relocated to LA and has since pursued opportunities in radio, television, writing, and live performance. Kristin's writing appeared on a routine basis in Life & Style Magazine's Style Slip-up section. She has two full-length comedy CDs, Where The Cab Takes You and Buckle Up, that are nationally distributed by Uproar Records, and her third is set to be released later this year. Key has showed up on numerous tv programs, including Comics Unleashed and multiple episodes of VH-1's 100 Greatest Series, and is a regular guest on the nationally televised Bob and Tom Show, as well as Sirius and XM Satellite Radio. . She is still performing live in comedy clubs, colleges, and military shows around the world, leaving audiences in stitches wherever she goes. Despite the fact that she now lives in Los Angeles, Ms. Key retains her small-town perspective, as well as a polished rapid-fire delivery that has audiences howling.
