Kim Walker-Smith is a worship leader and singer-songwriter in the contemporary Christian music genre. Here Is My Song, her first solo studio album, was released in February 2008 on the Jesus Culture label. Walker-Smith is a worship pastor at Bethel Church in Redding and the worship leader for the Jesus Culture Band and Jesus Culture events. Walker's main musical inspirations are Misty Edwards of the International House of Prayer and Suzy Yaraei of Morning Star Ministries, both famous worship leaders in the evangelical world. Walker went to Redding, California in her early adulthood to attend a Christian institution, but she struggled with her grades and didn't like her time there. She cried out to the Lord one night while driving around and came across a new 24-hour prayer house built up by Bethel Church. When Walker went inside, he was enthralled, and the next Sunday he attended their church service. She dropped out of university after a year to join the Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry (BSSM). After finishing the BSSM's two-year curriculum, she was recruited by the church as a worship pastor after another two years. Walker won $25,000 in an American Idol-style program called So You Want to Be a Star, which broadcast on Chico television station KRVU in 2005, thanks to her strong voice. On My Side, Walker-third Smith's solo album debuted at #1 on the Billboard Christian Albums list in 2017. Walker-Smith and her husband, Skyler Smith, live in Redding, California, with their children, despite spending a lot of time on the road.
