Khaled Khalifa Biography

Khaled Khalifa is an honor winning Syrian author screenwriter and artist brought into the world 1964 in Aleppo. Khalifa went through 13 years chipping away at In Praise of Hatred (Madih al-karahiya) his third novel which is about how the lives of one family are influenced by the fight between the Syrian government and the Muslim Brotherhood. It was distributed in Damascus in 2006 until it was restricted by the Syrian government when it was republished in Beirut. Khalifa says such a book bans originate from an administration which doesn't speak to the more significant levels of government and he favors exchange among craftsmen and Syrian specialists to encourage the right to speak freely of discourse. His work isn't expected to advocate any political belief system.
