Kevin DeYoung Biography

Kevin DeYoung is the senior pastor of Christ Covenant Church in Matthews, North Carolina, as well as the chairman of The Gospel Coalition's board of directors and an associate professor of systematic theology at Reformed Theological Seminary (Charlotte). DeYoung, a native of Jenison, Michigan, earned a B.A. in Religion from Hope College in Holland, Michigan. Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, Massachusetts, awarded him a Master of Divinity degree. He is now pursuing his Ph.D. in Early Modern History at the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom. His study has concentrated on the theology of John Witherspoon, a Scottish-American Presbyterian theologian and one of the United States' founding fathers. DeYoung worked as pastor of University Reformed Church in East Lansing, Michigan, before accepting the call to head Christ Covenant. He is a member of the government and writes for The Gospel Coalition. In North America and abroad, he often lectures at churches, conferences, colleges, and seminaries. Just Do Something and The Biggest Story are two of his numerous novels for adults and youngsters. The Evangelical Christian Publishers Association awarded his book Crazy Busy: A Mercifully Short Book About a Big Problem the 2014 Book of the Year. In addition, three of his novels were named Book of the Year by Christianity Today in 2009, 2010, and 2013. What Does the Bible Really Teach About Homosexuality? was selected as one of World Magazine's 2015 Books of the Year. DeYoung and his wife Trisha have seven children together.
