Ken Reid Biography

Ken Reid, a Boston native, has been operating in various capacities for over a decade and has been dubbed a pop culture maven by the Boston Globe. At Boston's infamous Rat club in 1995, he formed the seminal Boston Punk Rock band 30 Seconds Over Tokyo. Ken Reid opted to attempt his hand at stand-up comedy while residing in London in 2003. He returned to Boston in 2003 after touring the UK and has been a fixture on the comedy scene since before. Ken's distinct and very personal telling a story style has earned him a dedicated following in the area. Ken has written and performed four one-man shows using photos, video clips, and his brand of storytelling. Ken Reid's Cusack Attack, his 1st show, was a sell-out at the Boston Center for the Arts. In March of 2008, his second show, Very Special Episode: Portrait of a Pop Culture Victim, was also a sell out. "Music to My Years," released in October 2009, received widespread acclaim and was appeared on Boston.com. Ken's His most recent show, Shirt Tales, aired in May 2012. Ken has appeared at the Protest LA Festival, AltCom Festival, and Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival, Charleston Comedy Festival. In May 2012, he also appeared in the Cabinet of Unspeakable Wonders, a peculiar success of John Wesley Harding's Cabinet of Wonders variety show at Brown University. In September 2006, he was the Comic in Residence at The Comedy Studio, and he was a co-founder of the comedy troupe The Untrainables. From 2006 to 2009, he attended and co-produced the Great and Secret Comedy Show at Improv Boston with the Untrainables. He is also the originator of Lafta Obscura, a one-of-a-kind comedy show that managed to run at the Paradise Rock Club in 2006. Ken was the consistent Friday evening presenter at the Comedy Studio in Cambridge, MA from August 2008 to December 2012. Ken Reid's Secret Menu debuted every Thursday evening at the Comedy Studio in Jan 2013. Ken has opened for Todd Barry during his "Substantial Tour of New England," was selected by Eugene Mirman as the debut for Mirman's record release show, started to open for Patton Oswalt at the Wilbur Theater and Northeastern University, opened for Bob Saget throughout his 2011 New England Summer shows, and appeared on a series of "live talk show" performances with Jonathan Katz. Ken was also elected for Best Comedian in Boston by Boston Phoenix in 2010 & 2012.
