Kay Arthur Biography

Kay, a divorced mother of two working as a nurse, called in sick to the hospital where she worked at the age of 29 because she was sick at heart, sick over the sinful life she had been living. She practised a religion but had no personal relationship with God. On July 16, 1963, she went to her knees as a sinner and rose as pure and whole in the eyes of the Lord. "For 'whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved,'" Romans 10:13, (NASB). "Therefore, whoever is in Christ is a new creature; the old things have passed away; behold, new things have come" (2 Corinthians 5:17, NASB). She was hungry and thirsty for the truth, so she began studying the Bible. Her relationship with the Lord, as well as scriptural discoveries, transformed her sorrows into joy and her sorrow into laughter. God's love poured down on her in 1965, when she married Jack Arthur, a Pocket Testament League missionary. They worked as missionaries in Mexico for three and a half years before returning to the United States due to health issues. Jack started managing a Christian radio station in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Kay started a teen Bible study. Though the study began as a small gathering in the couple's living room, it quickly grew from teens to college students to adults. Kay and Jack's deepest desire from the beginning of the gatherings was to establish people in God's Word. Their 1970 ministry grew into Precept Ministries International, where they served as CO-CEOs until February 2012, when they stepped down and their son David took over as CEO. Kay is the teacher and host of Precepts for LifeTM, a daily television, radio, and online programme that uses the Inductive Bible Study Method to guide students through the Bible book by book, verse by verse. Precepts For Life TV and Radio reach more than 75 million households and more than 30 countries each day, while the online programme is accessible to almost everyone on the planet. Kay is currently living in Tennessee.
