Katie Leung Biography

Katie Leung is a Scottish stage, film, and television actress. She is perhaps best known for her role in the Harry Potter film series as Cho Chang, the lead character's first love interest. Katie Leung debuted in the Warner Brothers feature film Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire as Cho Chang, a role she later reprised in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Parts I & II). Katie studied at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in addition to her acting career. She made her professional stage debut as Er-Hong in Sacha Wares' Wild Swans, which premiered in Boston before moving to the Young Vic Theatre in London in April 2012. She went on to play Sunny in Frances Ya-Chu Cowhig's play The World of Extreme Happiness at the National Theatre. Katie recently appeared at the Royal Court Theatre in Mia Chung's play You For Me For You and at the Hampstead Theatre in Tony Kushner's play The Intelligent Homosexual's Guide to Capitalism and Socialism with a Key to the Scriptures, directed by Michael Boyd. She most recently directed the Royal Shakespeare Company's production of Snow in Midsummer. Katie was named one of BAFTA's Breakthrough Brits in October 2014, a scheme established in 2013 to recognise and support young emerging British talent. She has appeared on television as one of the series leads in Run, Channel 4's acclaimed drama about the lives of four people in South London. Her other television appearances include Poirot on ITV1 and Father Brown on BBC. Katie also played the central lead role of Mei in Guy Hibbert's and John Alexander's One Child, which aired on BBC2 in February 2016. She was most recently seen in Martin Campbell's film The Foreigner, co-starring with Pierce Brosnan and Jackie Chan. Lau Chen, one of Jackie Chan's lead characters, is currently filming the new ITV series White Dragon (2018).
