Dr. Frenk is a world-renowned expert on global health who served as Mexico's Minister of Health from 2000 to 2006. He pursued an ambitious agenda to transform the nation's healthcare system, with a focus on reducing social inequality. Dr. Frenk was appointed Doyen of the Faculty and T & G Angelopoulos Professor of Public Health and International Development at the Harvard School of Public Health on January 1, 2009.In July 2010, he was appointed to the Commonwealth Fund's board of directors. He is perhaps best known for his role in establishing Seguro Popular, an extensive national health insurance program that enhanced access to health care for tens of millions of previously uninsured Mexicans. He currently works as a Dean of Harvard University's School of Public Health.
