Joshua Rogers has quickly become a household name among gospel music fans across the country. The eighteen-year-old winner of BET's extremely successful reality singing competition, Sunday Best, has won millions of hearts as the "young buck" who brought home the crown. Each week, the Greeleyville, SC native put the small town on the map by belting out tunes for the studio audience, viewers from across the country, & gospel music superstars - vocal coach Kim Burrell, judges CeCe Winans, Yolanda Adams, Donnie McClurkin, and host Kirk Franklin. The talented young singer admits that his family always motivated him to sing but never sugarcoated things. Rodgers had said, "My mom always tells me, boy, you didn't always sound so good..." Rogers, on the other hand, stuck with it and worked hard on his craft. Rogers won a prize in a local talent competition at the Charleston, SC Black Expo after graduating from high school. He was encouraged to audition for Sunday Best after winning the competition, and he did so. He and his family decided to drive to Atlanta to compete against 10,000 other contestants for a spot on the show. Rogers ended up winning the Sunday Best title. When questioned how he feels about winning and representing his hometown, Joshua says, "It just feels good that everybody knows Greeleyville exists." It exists, and it is talented. It has a guarantee. It's incredible how much God's favor was bestowed upon me. Joshua Rogers is the first male winner of Sunday Best and the youngest winner in all five seasons. He is presently planning for his debut release on Music World Gospel on November 20th. Rogers intends to attend college in the coming days, where he will most likely specialize in musical performance. The singer has already made a name for himself in his hometown, with September 13th designated as Joshua Rogers Day in Manning, South Carolina. It's undeniable that he'll make a name for himself in gospel music around the world soon.
