Jose Rodriguez Biography

Jose A. Rodriguez, Jr. is a Central Intelligence Agency veteran with 31 years of service. He was the Director of the National Clandestine Service, the CIA's chief of all human clandestine activities, and was in charge of the intelligence community's human operations coordination when he retired in January 2008. He was Director of the CIA's Counterterrorism Center from 2002 to late 2004, where he oversaw global information collecting programs and covert action operations against international terrorist organizations following the Taliban's departure from Afghanistan following the 9/11 attacks. He was previously the Counternarcotics Center's Deputy Director and the Latin America Division's Chief. He served in seven abroad deployments and four times as Chief of Station during his tenure. Jose became a consultant and the Managing Director of J-ROD Strategies after leaving the federal government. He joined Edge Consulting, a National Interest Security Company that was bought by IBM in 2010, as Senior Vice President in September 2008. From 2009 to 2011, he served on the MVM Inc. Board of Directors. Until March 2012, Jose worked as an Account Executive in IBM's intelligence business. He left IBM to promote his new book, Hard Measures: How Aggressive CIA Actions Saved American Lives After 9/11, which was released on April 30, 2012. Hard Measures became an instant top seller in the New York Times. Jose has been on CBS News' 60 Minutes and a variety of other network news shows.
