John O'Callaghan Biography

John O'Callaghan has been in shows in Canada, Ireland, and the United States. At the age of 17, he moved to Belfast to study Computer Science at the University of Ulster. At the same time, he began acting with Belfast Youth and Community Theatre, which had the mission of bringing protestant and catholic performers together. In Boston, Massachusetts, the New Theatre School was founded. Following his graduation from theatre school, he opted to continue his career in Toronto, Canada. He rapidly became a working actor and a member of the Canadian Actors Equity. Carolan's Farewell at the famous DuMaurier Theatre Centre was his first equity performance. He traveled to New York City with an amazing background to feature in Conor Mcpherson's one-man play Rum and Vodka. This event was a resounding success. He later performed the performance on NBC and HBO. Night after night, the concert is sold out. The Comedians at La Mama etc. and The Hostage at the Irish Repertory Theatre are two further New York credits. He went to Los Angeles with his son Odin and dog Charlie after various regional (including The Cleveland Playhouse) and other New York achievements. John was recently seen in New York City, where he was seen in the Irish Arts Centre's production of Mark O'Rowe's Howie the Rookie, directed by Emmy Award winner Nancy Malone. Marina Carr's By the Bog of Cats, Conor Mcpherson's Rum and Vodka, Yasuhiro Ohashi Godzilla (Crow's Theatre), Mark O'Rowes Howie The Rookie, and The Live Full Monty at the New Yorker Theatre are among the world premieres. He is a regular performer with the Artists Radio Theatre of California and LA Shorts at the Getty. We Were The Mulvaneys, The Agency, Clutch, Deep In My Heart, Haven't We Met Before, and Gangs of New York are among his film and television credits. He recently finished the ZOS Zone of Separation miniseries.
