John L. Esposito Biography

John L. Esposito, University Lecturer, Professor of Religion and Global Affairs, and University lecturer of Islamic Education at Georgetown University, is indeed the Founder And director of the Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Acknowledgement at the Walsh School of Diplomatic Service. Esposito has worked as an advisor for the United States Department of State and other government entities, European and Asian corporations and governments, universities, and the media across the world. A past president of the Middle East Studies Affiliation of North America as well as the American Council for the Study of Islamic Communities, he is also the Deputy Chair of the Center for the Study of Islamism and democracy. European Network of Professionals on De-Radicalisation, the board of C-1 World Dialogue, and a diplomat for the UN Alliance of Civilizations. He has earned the Martin E. Marty Prize for Public Understanding of Religion from the American Academy of Religion, the Quaid-e-Azzam Award for Exceptional Achievements in Islamic Education from Pakistan, as well as the School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University Prize for Distinguished Instruction.
