John Hofmeister Biography

Affordable Energy Inc. was formed by Mr. John D. Hofmeister, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Citizens. From March 1, 2005, to June 2008, Mr. Hofmeister was the President of Shell Oil Company, as well as the company's U.S. Country Chair. At The Royal Dutch/Shell Group, he was the Director of Human Resources. He was Shell Oil Company's Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs and Human Resources. He worked for AlliedSignal Inc. as Vice President of International Human Resources. For AlliedSignal's Aerospace, Automotive, and Engineered Materials divisions, he was in charge of establishing and implementing the company's Asian and European human resources strategy and infrastructure. Mr. Hofmeister joined AlliedSignal's Aerospace business as Vice President of Human Resources in 1992. He worked at Northern Telecom Inc. from 1988 to 1992, where he was Vice President of Human Resources from 1990. Mr. Hofmeister began his career in the international marketing and sales department of the General Electric Lighting Business in 1973. During his fifteen years with GE, he worked in five of the company's key divisions, including locomotives, telecommunications, factory automation, and electric motors, in a range of marketing, manufacturing, and human resource positions. At GE, he was the General Manager of the Motor Relations Operation. In 1997, he joined Shell as Director of Human Resources and later became Country Chair of Shell US. The Chairman of the National Urban League is Mr. Hofmeister. Since September 2010, he has served as Chairman of the Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Board. Since March 2005, Mr. Hofmeister has served as Chairman of Royal Dutch Shell plc's U.S.A. Operations. He was the Chairman of the Greater Houston Partnership's Board of Directors. Since January 4, 2010, he has served as a director of Lufkin Industries Inc. Since June 2010 and August 2009, he has served as a Senior Independent Director and Non-Executive Director of Hunting Plc, respectively. Since April 7, 2010, he has served as a Director of CAMAC Energy Inc. Since March 11, 2009, he has been on the Advisory Board of Sodexo, Inc. He works at the Greater Houston Partnership as a Director. The Foreign Policy Association, Strategic Partners, LLC, the Gas Technology Institute, and the Center for Houston's Future are all on his board of directors. Mr. Hofmeister is a member of the American Petroleum Institute and the National Urban League's boards of directors. Mr. Hofmeister worked at Royal Dutch as a Director of US Operations. Mr. Hofmeister is also Chairman of the Advisory Committee of Cornell University's Centre for Advanced Human Resources Studies and a member of the National Academy of Human Resources. He is a member of the Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technical Advisory Committee of the US Department of Energy. The National Academy of Human Resources has named Mr. Hofmeister a Fellow. Mr. Hofmeister graduated from Kansas State University with a BA and an MA in Political Science.
