John Hadl Biography

Hadl played quarterback for his last two years at Kansas after starting at halfback on both offense and defense as a sophomore. He was named the school's Player of the Century. In 1960, he was an All-American running back, and in 1961, he was an All-American quarterback. He stands 6 ft 1 in (1.85 m) tall and weighs 210 lbs (95 kg). In 1962, he joined the San Diego Chargers of the American Football League. He split quarterbacking responsibilities until 1966 when he took over as the starter for San Diego and went on to average over 3,000 yards and 23 touchdowns each (14-game) season for the following four years.
