Joe Weinman is a digital strategist, global keynote speaker, and experienced telecom and IT executive who is the author of Amazon’s #1 Hot New Release in Computers and Technology, Digital Disciplines: Attaining Market Leadership via the Cloud, Big Data, Social, Mobile, and the Internet of Things (Wiley CIO, 2015), available in Chinese 新动能 新法则 (PTPress, 2016). He is also the author of Cloudonomics: The Business Value of Cloud Computing (Wiley, 2012), which has been translated into two Chinese editions: 云经济学 (PTPress, 2014) and 云端时代 (PTPress, 2015). He is a contributor to Regulating the Cloud: Policy for Computing Infrastructure (MIT Press, 2014) and a forthcoming Springer textbook on big data applications. As a longtime industry executive, he has held leadership positions in areas such as sales, corporate strategy, innovation management, business development, product management, operations and R&D, recently as Senior Vice President, Cloud Services and Strategy at Telx (now Digital Realty) and formerly at AT&T Bell Labs, AT&T corporate, and HP. Mr. Weinman has been awarded 22 U.S. and international patents in a variety of technologies such as cloud and distributed computing and storage, consumer goods, wireline, pseudoternary line coding, simulation and workflow, wireless technologies, telecommunications, web search algorithms, and homomorphic encryption. He received a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Computer Science from Cornell University and the University of Wisconsin - Madison respectively, and completed his Executive Education at the International Institute for Management Development in Lausanne, Switzerland. He was selected as a Netflix Cloud Prize judge, appeared multiple times on Asian, U.S., and European television, frequently quoted in the U.S. and international magazine, newspaper, and online media and analyst reports, and appears in a number of on-line podcasts and videos such as The New York Times Timescast, The Street, and for various companies, organizations, and events. He was profiled in Art & Living, China Policy Review, the Industrial Research Institute's Research-Technology Management Journal, and On Top of the Cloud (Wiley, 2012). Weinman is the founder of Cloudonomics and also the founding chair of the IEEE Intercloud Testbed executive committee. He is a recipient of the Patent Achievement Award, and multiple Distinguished Speaker Awards and AT&T Architecture Award.
