Jim Acosta is an American journalist and CNN's chief domestic correspondent. Raised in Annandale, Virginia, by a Cuban immigrant father and a mother of Irish and Czech descent, he graduated from James Madison University with a degree in mass communication and political science. Acosta began his career at WSVA radio, then transitioned to television, working at local stations such as WBIR-TV in Knoxville and KTVT-TV in Dallas. He joined CNN in 2007, serving as a national political correspondent before covering the White House from 2012 to 2021, including as chief White House correspondent during the Trump administration. He now anchors “CNN Newsroom” on weekends and has authored “The Enemy of the People” (2019), reflecting on his experiences at the White House.
