Jim Acosta is an American journalist and CNN's chief domestic correspondent. Raised in Annandale, Virginia, by a Cuban immigrant father and a mother of Irish and Czech descent, he graduated from James Madison University with a degree in mass communication and political science.
Acosta began his career at WSVA radio, then transitioned to television, working at local stations such as WBIR-TV in Knoxville and KTVT-TV in Dallas. He joined CNN in 2007, serving as a national political correspondent before covering the White House from 2012 to 2021, including as chief White House correspondent during the Trump administration.
