At age sixteen Jessica suffered a sudden massive heart attack and was not expected to live through the night. Her left leg was amputated due to complications with surgery and she lived for nine months on an experimental heart pump while awaiting a life-saving heart transplant. A three-time cancer survivor she overcame her first bout with non-Hodgkin lymphoma while studying at Princeton University and was named one of Glamour magazine
