Jay Graber is an American software engineer and the CEO of Bluesky, a decentralized social platform born as an alternative to X, formerly known as Twitter. Graber hails from Tulsa, Oklahoma, and is the daughter of a Chinese immigrant and Swiss mathematics teacher. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Science, Technology, and Society.

Her career began in 2015 as a software engineer at SkuChain in California, where she soldered bitcoin mining equipment. In 2016, she joined Zcash, a privacy-focused cryptocurrency, as a junior developer and then founded Happening, Inc., an event planning website. She would become Bluesky’s first CEO.

Under her leadership, Bluesky developed the AT Protocol, emphasizing user control, privacy, and open-source technology. As of November 2024, the platform has over 24 million users, positioning it as a key alternative to Elon Musk’s X.
