Jason Carter Biography

On May 11, 2010, Senator Jason Carter was elected to the Georgia Senate. Jason works as an attorney with the commercial litigation company of Bondurant, Mixson & Elmore, LLP. In addition to his legal profession, he has earned several honors for his pro bono work and bar leadership. Jason worked as a legal clerk for the Honorable Frank Mays Hull of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit before joining his present company. Jason is involved in a variety of community service activities and serves on the boards of numerous charity and public interest groups, including the DeKalb Women's Resource Center to End Domestic Violence, Hands on Atlanta, and the Carter Center. Jason has also served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Lochiel, South Africa, and is involved in many aspects of the Peace Corps' ongoing work. He has written a book on South Africa and has written essays about legal difficulties and other themes. Jason was born in District 42 at Emory Hospital and is a ninth-generation Georgian. He got his law degree from the University of Georgia, summa cum laude, and his undergraduate degree from Duke University. Jason and his wife Kate are the parents of two small kids. They are residents of DeKalb County.
