James Hackett Biography

Since January 1, 2006, Mr. James T. Hackett has served as Executive Chairman of Anadarko Petroleum Corporation and Chief Executive Officer since December 3, 2003. From December 3, 2003, to February 2010, Mr. Hackett was President of Anadarko Petroleum Corporation. He has a lot of expertise in the energy industry. He has worked for Chevron USA, Amerada Hess Corp., Citation Oil and Gas Corp., and other organizations as an engineer. From April until December 3, 2003, he was President and Chief Operating Officer of Devon Energy Corporation. Mr. Hackett was also the President of the Houston Grand Opera Company. From January 2000 to April 2003, he was Chairman of the Board of Ocean Energy Inc., and from March 1999 to April 2003, he was Chief Executive Officer and President. From January to March 1999, Mr. Hackett was Chairman of the Board of Seagull Energy Corporation, and from September 1998 to March 1999, he was Chief Executive Officer and President. Mr. Hackett also served Devon OEI Operating, Inc. as Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer, and President. Mr. Hackett was Group President of Duke Energy Corporation's Energy Services Group at PanEnergy Corp. from June 1997 to September 1998. He was the Executive Vice President of PanEnergy Corp. from January 1996 until June 1997. In 1995, he was named Senior Vice President and President of the Trident Division. Mr. Hackett worked with NGC Corporation (now Dynegy), Inc. from 1990 until 1995.
