The Executive Pastry Chef of The Genuine Hospitality Group of restaurants (Michael's Genuine Food & Drink in Miami and Grand Cayman, Harry's Pizzeria in Miami) was just nominated for a James Beard Award (Outstanding Pastry Chef 2012). Goldsmith is busier than ever with the release of her debut cookbook, BAKING OUT LOUD: Fun Desserts with Big Flavors (Clarkson Potter) on October 2, 2012. People, The Wall Street Journal, Food & Wine, The New York Times, Bon Appétit, The New York Post, Wine Spectator, Huffington Post, and MSNBC have all highlighted Hedy and her recipes. Hedy contributes to foodnetwork.com on a regular basis, and her seasonal dishes can be seen on cookingchannel.com. Since the opening of James Beard Award-winning chef Michael Schwartz's flagship Michael's Genuine Food & Drink in 1997, Goldsmith's ability has been a wonderful complement to the restaurant's fresh, straightforward, and pure food. The teamwork of these two Philadelphia natives was instrumental in the restaurant being named the fourth-best new restaurant in the country by The New York Times. Hedy crafts sweets with simple tastes, textures, and methods placed on top of one other. "The sweets I make are affected by my entire life, and those early salty-sweet experiences and bold tastes continue to form my palette." Hedy's debut cookbook has distinctive bold tastes like tangerine creamsicle pots de crème, buttered popcorn gelato, chocolate bourbon fudge tart, and basil panna cotta, as well as fun takes on her childhood favorites like Pop-Tarts, Snickers, Milk Chocolate Candy Bar, Nutters, and O's. Goldsmith donates her time and resources to a variety of organizations close to her heart, including Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, which raises funds and awareness for juvenile cancer research, mainly new therapies and cures. Goldsmith graduated with honors from the Culinary Institute of America's Baking & Pastry Program in New York and has a B.A. in Photography and Film from the Philadelphia College of Art. She and her boyfriend live in Coral Gables, Florida, with their two shih tzus, Sweetpea, and Cooper.
