About Heather McCready
Heather McCready Biography
Heather McCready is a folk singer-songwriter from Fort Worth, Texas, who has an unusual capacity to soothe and encourage her audience. She crafts songs that are unusually tranquil, and she sings with a delightfully pure, soft voice. Her music is largely influenced by the sounds and harmonies of the 1960s, the joy of bluegrass, and the sheer beauty of classical greats. Heather has published five full-length albums since 2009, including Finally Free, Neverland, Give It A Day, and Christmas, The Way I Hear It, and Bluebirdy. Heather continues to grow and expand as an artist with each album. She is well-known for her limitless inventiveness, enthusiastic demeanor, and perfectionistic and hands-on commitment to all phases of production. She enjoys taking musical chances and feels that the skill of making beautiful music is found in the details. She emphasizes on dynamics, simplicity, and sonic purity. Heather was honored to get two full cover articles in The Dallas Morning News in 2011, which appeared in the Metro and Arts and Life sections! Heather's CD, Christmas the Way I Hear It, was also chosen as an editor's and critic's pick for "Best Holiday Music" in The Dallas Morning News and CD Baby. Heather has appeared four times on Fox Television since 2010. She also liked appearing on Good Morning Texas, a morning television show. Heather is presently receiving airplay in countries such as the Netherlands, Germany, Australia, France, and England. Heather's song, Clarity, was just played on National BBC in the United Kingdom. Heather now resides in Dallas, Texas, with her husband, Mark, and their two children, Marshall and Ruthie. Heather spends time with her children and pictures nature and the environment around her when she is not in the studio or making music. Heather is now on the board of the Tarrant County Mental Health Association. Heather is the daughter of a best-selling Christian composer father, who she claims has been singing to her from the day she was born. Heather's earliest attempts at making music began at the age of six, indicating that she has a natural talent for music composition. Heather was motivated to act on stage after seeing the wonderful musical performance “Singing in the Rain” in London, England. Heather was classically taught in voice throughout her adolescence by a fantastic instructor, whom she credits for her skill in vocal control. Heather is still using the strategies and exercises she was given 25 years ago today. Heather created her first completely produced song when she was 13 years old, which she went on to record in New York with arranger-producer Buryl Red. Throughout her university years, she was involved in musical theater. Heather was also interested in acting and humor, and at the age of 12 she landed a tiny role as a ventriloquist (a little known and humiliating truth) in the film True Stories, starring David Byrne of the Talking Heads. Heather experienced the start of depression and anxiety disorder during her sophomore year at Baylor University, which hampered her ability to function. She withdrew within, living alone and creating music whenever she could. Heather afterwards shifted her major to the subject she found most intriguing to investigate - global religion. Heather understood at that time in her life that becoming a singer-songwriter was her greatest desire. She did not modify her ambitions, but her career was put on hold when she was 19 years old. Heather married, had her first kid three years later, and then stayed at home for the following 13 years. For more than a decade, she had been committed completely to her family and her struggle to reclaim her mental health. Heather McCready triumphantly re-emerged from her quiet with her debut album, Finally Free, and is fast making up for lost time! Heather has released four additional full-length albums since 2009, and she speaks about mental health, its inherent problems, and how it has impacted her own life and family as often as she is able. Heather now resides in Dallas, Texas, with her husband, Mark, and their two children, Marshall and Ruthie. Heather is a profound thinker who enjoys spending time with her children and has a passion for photography nature and the environment around her when she is not in the studio or creating music. Heather is now on the board of the Tarrant County Mental Health Association.
