Hans Tung is a managing partner at GGV Capital focusing on consumer Internet e-commerce and IoT investments globally. Tung leads the U.S. operations of GGV a venture firm which also has three offices in Asia.
He is consistently recognized among the top venture capital investors in the world having been named to the Forbes Midas list seven times from 2013-2019 and in 2019 ranked #7 and #18 on the New York Times/C.B. Insights Top 100 Venture Capitalists list.
Known for his eye for e-commerce Tung counts 13 billion-dollar-plus companies in his portfolio today including shopping app Wish second-hand marketplace OfferUp Chinese social commerce company Xiaohongshu and workplace tool Slack. Two of his investments went public in 2018: electronics maker Xiaomi in July and shopping site Mogu in December. Several others raised new funding at sky-high valuations including Bytedance Peloton and Lime. Bytedance was also the cause for a high profile exit for Tung when it acquired social app Musical.ly for $900 million in November 2017.
