He oversees all technological, strategic, and customer-focused service lines, such as product planning, development, implementation services, product management, and the dedicated advisor service. Throughout his career, Dr. Tobin has headed a number of groups that have sought to enhance health-care delivery by better utilizing information to drive change. From 1988 until 2004, he was Cerner Corporation's chief operational officer, overseeing the implementation of Cerner's enterprise-wide electronic medical records system across a significant number of health care companies. Dr. Tobin has previously worked as the chief operating officer of CodeRyte, Inc., a computer-assisted coding firm focused on using industry-leading natural language processing skills to better utilize the huge volumes of free text information in the health care market. Dr. Tobin began his career as a key member of McKinsey & Company's global health care leadership, representing a variety of enterprises such as pharmaceutical firms, health insurers, IT services providers, and provider-based organizations. His primary emphasis at McKinsey was on improving the use of health care information to generate commercial success. Dr. Tobin received his bachelor's degree in business administration from Kansas State University and then went on to obtain his doctorate from Harvard University in 1991.
