Glenn Singleton Biography

Glenn Eric Singleton is a native of Baltimore, Maryland. Singleton attended public elementary and independent secondary schools before earning his bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his master's degree from Stanford University's Graduate School of Education. Singleton's career began as an Ivy League admissions director. He created Pacific Educational Group, Inc. (PEG) in 1992 to assist families with transitions within and between K–12 and higher education. His organization evolved quickly into a vehicle for tackling systemic educational injustice by offering a framework, advice, and assistance to K–12 systems and institutions of higher education focused on fulfilling the needs of underserved children of color. He is presently the company's president and CEO. PEG's Singleton and his colleagues plan and offer personalized, comprehensive professional development for educators through training, coaching, and consultation. PEG works with educators at all levels, from starting teachers to superintendents at the local, state, and national levels, to increase their understanding of institutional racism and implement effective solutions for reducing racial performance gaps in schools. Beyond Diversity, an internationally renowned seminar designed to assist administrators, teachers, students, parents, and community stakeholders in identifying and examining the confluence of race and education, was established by Singleton in 1995. Beyond Diversity is the cornerstone for the PEG Systemic Racial Equity Framework and its transformation theory, which focuses on leadership development, teacher action research, and family/community empowerment. Participants all around the globe are now using Singleton's Courageous Conversations Agreements, Conditions, and Compass, which were presented to them in Beyond Diversity, as they work to implement culturally competent curriculum, teaching, and assessment. PEG's area of activity has extended during its 20-year history to include online professional learning, independent school partnerships, and international activities in Canada and Australia focused on educational fairness for indigenous people. PEG sponsors an annual Summit for Courageous Conversation, which brings together researchers, educators, community members, and other stakeholders to discover ideas and best practices for establishing high-level, equitable learning environments for all kids. Singleton now lives in San Francisco, California. He founded the Foundation for a College Education (FCE) and presently serves on its Advisory Board.
