Ghylian Bell is the founder of the Urban Yoga Foundation, a non-profit that teaches and inspires people from all walks of life to take charge of their health. UYF programs equip children, parents, and educators with the tools they need to manage stress, develop mind-body awareness, and health consciousness via yoga and associated holistic methods. Yoga is used as an artistic and intellectual expression by the foundation to alleviate health concerns as well as attention and behavioral impairments. Bell began practicing Asthanga yoga in 1995, and five years later specialized in children's yoga. She is now pursuing her certification in the Integrated Science of Hatha Tantra and Ayurveda while living a healthy lifestyle. Bell provides organic and fair trade tea to schools for sampling and seminars as a provider of exquisite hand-mixed organic botanical blended teas. Ghylian Bell is the Chair of The American Heart Association's Passion Committee, which focuses on preventive and health management. Bell has led presentations for The Ronald Perelman Heart Center and The American Association of Black Cardiologists as an advocate for holistic nutrition, which has aided her foundation's purpose. The Foundation House, a creative holistic healing arts facility on Strivers Row in Harlem, is one of her most recent ventures. In addition, Bell is presently working on a documentary about yoga in public schools.
