Gerard J. Puccio Biography

Gerard J. Puccio is the Department Chair and Professor at Buffalo State's International Center for Studies in Creativity, a one-of-a-kind academic department that provides the world's only Master of Science degree in creativity. Gerard has authored over 50 papers, chapters, and books. His most recent book, The Innovative Team, co-authored with Chris Grivas, is a story of a team that was able to turn around a dysfunctional and unproductive environment by using proven creative-thinking techniques. He and his colleagues released the second edition of their book Creative Leadership: Skills that Drive Change in 2011. Dr. Puccio earned the State University of New York Chancellor's Honor Award for Research Excellence, as well as the President's Medal for Scholarship and Creativity, in recognition of his exceptional work as a scholar. Dr. Puccio is a seasoned speaker and consultant who has worked with large businesses, colleges, and school districts around the country. The BBC, Fisher-Price Brands, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Kraft Foods, Rich Products, BNP Paribas, Rubbermaid, Coca-Cola, and the Fashion Institute of Technology are among his recent clients. He has given creative workshops and lectures all across the United States and in over 20 countries. Dr. Puccio was named one of America's Great Lecturers by the Teaching Company in 2012, and as such, he was requested to develop and present a course composed of twenty-four 30-minute video sessions. The Creative Thinker's Tool Box, the title of this "Great Course," will be launched regionally and globally in January 2014. Dr. Puccio was also a featured speaker at a TEDx event in December 2012 in New York City. Dr. Puccio, among other things, serves on the selection committee for the Toy Hall of Fame at the National Museum of Play in Rochester, New York. Gerard earned his Ph.D. in organizational psychology from the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom.
