George Allen is fond of describing how his parents were the two most influential people in his life. His mother grew lived in Tunisia during WWII, when she witnessed the harsh and terrible Axis occupation. His mother taught him about the notion and benefits of freedom.
It is a notion that will influence his life and inform his political philosophy and views. Allen began his legal career as a law clerk for well-known conservative Judge Glen M. Williams in Southwest Virginia. His reverence for the rule of law is still influenced by the teachings he received from Judge Williams and the time he spent in Abingdon.
