Prosecutors in New York called his enterprise "one of the most brazen international drug smuggling organizations ever." The sky was the limit for Frank Lucas, and his potential looked limitless. Frank Lucas was arrested on January 28, 1975, for state and federal narcotics offenses in New Jersey. He was convicted and sentenced to 70 years in prison. He was freed in 1991 after 14 years in jail, thanks to his collaboration with the police, only to return to a transformed Harlem, destroyed, in part, by the negative repercussions of his legacy. Lucas, who is now wheelchair-bound, is fully aware of his influence on his cherished New York neighborhood. His goal is to change that history.
