Erin Kennedy Biography

Kennedy has been an anchor/reporter for WKYC-TV in Cleveland, Ohio, since December 2011, where she was the station's primary anchor/reporter during the station's coverage of the Cleveland abduction victims. Kennedy and her colleagues also received an Emmy and a regional Edward R. Murrow Award for their coverage of the Chardon School massacre while working at WKYC. From 2005 until 2011, Kennedy worked as an anchor/reporter at WPRI and WNAC-TV in Providence, Rhode Island. She began her career as a weekend evening anchor before being elevated to anchor/reporter for the stations' nightly evening newscasts in 2006. She was also the producer and host of WPRI-Webcast TV's en Espaol, an online broadcast in Spanish. Kennedy started working for KAMC-TV in Lubbock, Texas, as a weekend anchor/reporter in 2003. She was elevated to weekday anchor/reporter at the station after six months on the job, where she anchored the station's two-and-a-half-hour weekday morning broadcast and guest co-hosted the Spanish language show, Si Se Puede. Kennedy was a Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude alumnus of the University of Notre Dame in Indiana. She is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and has covered extensively on immigration and drug trafficking from Mexico. Kennedy and her husband, Matthew, had their first kid, Elliot, earlier this year. Kennedy has family in the Chicago region.
