Erik Weihenmayer (born September 23, 1968) is an American athlete, explorer, author, activist, and motivational speaker who, on May 25, 2001, became the first blind person to conquer Mount Everest. He was featured on the cover of Time Magazine.

In September 2002, he also climbed the Seven Summits, joining 150 other climbers who had done it at the time, although he was the only one who was blind. In 2008, he completed the more prestigious Seventh Summit by adding Carstenz Pyramid in West Papua New Guinea, the highest mountain in Austral Asia.
