Emily Rutherfurd Biography

American actress Emily Rutherfurd was born on September 18 1974 in New York City New York. During the late eighties and early nineties she attended Camp Laurel in Readfield Maine. She developed a passion for acting and decided to pursue it and she was later seen acting on several shows and productions. As a child she has always been drawn to the performing arts. Once a year her father an attorney indulged his child’s interests by allowing her to take part in Gilbert and Sullivan operas. This paved the way for the girl to grow up and mature as an actress. She later left New York to attend the University of Southern California where she worked on her degree in theater.
Upon graduating from USC Emily Rutherfurd landed a role on the series Work With Me. She was also in 1999’s Loves Me Loves Me Not a short film by David Fickas. In 2001 she was seen on several episodes of The Ellen Show portraying the character Catherine Richmond. When her stint on the show ended she gained a part on the romantic comedy Van Wilder starring Ryan Reynolds Tara Reid Tim Matheson and Kal Penn. She was also given a recurring role on the hit series Will & Grace where she played Joanne. In 2003 she was seen on an episode of Coupling which was followed by appearances on more than 20 episodes of Married to the Kellys. Her next project was Cameron Crowe’s Elizabethtown where she was cast as Cindy Hasboro alongside stars like Orlando Bloom Kirsten Dunst Susan Sarandon Alec Baldwin Judy Greer Bruce McGill and Jessica Biel. Rutherfurd was later given a role on the short comedy Derek & Simon: A Bee and a Cigarette also starring Simon Helburg and Derek Waters. She worked with them again on The Pity Card another short film. Rutherfurd gained more fame when she accepted the role of “New Christine Hunter on the CBS series The New Adventures of Old Chrstine. Rutherfurd is also known to be fond of performing in front of live audiences as well as sailing and cooking. In her spare time she has taken part in the group Reading is Fundamental (RIF) doing volunteer work to encourage children to read.
