Dr. Amador is a nationally recognized speaker, clinical psychologist, and professor at Columbia University Teachers College in New York City. He is also the founder and director of the LEAP Institute, as well as the author of eight books, including the national best-seller I'm Not Sick, I Don't Need Help! Dr. Amador's experience has landed him spots on ABC Good Morning America, Prime Time Live, CBS This Morning, NBC Nightly News, 60 Minutes, CNN, Dateline, ABC's World News Tonight, Fox News, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and a slew of other shows. Dr. Amador has worked as a consultant for a number of corporations and government bodies, including the National Institute of Health. The Unabomber, PFC Lynndie England, Elizabeth Smart Kidnapping, and Zacarias Moussaoui prosecutions are among his forensic cases. Dr. Amador has worked with individuals, families, and couples for over 25 years. He is a New Yorker. Dr. Amador was previously a professor in Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons' Department of Psychiatry; a member of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI) Board of Directors; NAMI's Director of Research; and the Director of Psychology at the New York State Psychiatric Institute. Dr. Amador was a co-chair of the most recent text revision of the DSM IV-Schizophrenia TR's and Related Disorders section (often referred to as the Psychiatrists' Bible).
