Dr. Jan C. Garavaglia Biography

Dr. Jan C. Garavaglia (aka Dr. G) is the chief forensic expert for the Medical Examiner's Office of District Nine (Orange-Osceola) in Florida. Dr. Garavaglia received her fellowship in forensic pathology at the Dade County Medical Examiner's Office in Miami, Fla., after graduating from St. Louis University School of Medicine. She is certified by the American Board of Pathology in combined anatomic and clinical pathology, as well as the American Board of Pathology in forensic pathology. Dr. Garavaglia is a member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and the National Association of Medical Examiners. Dr. Garavaglia has also delivered several seminars and talks at various universities, as well as having articles published in journals like the Journal of Forensic Sciences and The American Journal of Forensic Medicine and Pathology. Dr. Garavaglia spent ten years as a medical examiner at the Bexar County Forensic Science Center in San Antonio, Texas, before moving to Florida. She was also a clinical assistant professor in the department of pathology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, as well as a representative of the Graduate Faculty Council for the Graduate School of Biomedical Science.
