Dr. Frederick D. Haynes Biography

Dr. Frederick D. Haynes III is a passionate leader captivating orator educator and activist engaged in fighting against racial injustice; committed to increasing economic and social justice in urban areas; and devoted to transforming the lives of the disenfranchised. For twenty-six years Dr. Haynes serving as senior pastor of Friendship-West Baptist Church in Dallas Texas has innovatively led and grown the ministry from 500 members to over 12000.
A native of San Francisco California Dr. Haynes is the third in a line of well-known socially conscious preachers. He graduated from Bishop College in 1982 with a Bachelor of Arts in Religion and English. He earned a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and received Honorary Doctorates of Divinity from Paul Quinn College and Texas College. Dr. Haynes pursued graduate studies at Oxford University in Oxford England. In 2005 he earned a Doctor of Ministry from the Graduate Theological Foundation.
Dr. Haynes is the author of Healing Our Broken Village which address the issue of healing by confronting the internal struggles that incarcerate us emotionally and socially. He also authored Soul Fitness an inspiring and encouraging daily devotional. On Sunday March 1 2009 Dr. Haynes launched a 2-hour weekly radio show Freddy Haynes Unscripted edutainment radio for community empowerment on Radio One's 94.5 K-Soul FM in Dallas TX. Freddy Haynes Unscripted debuted in at number one during the first week on air. His out-of-the-box approach to ministry reaches across generations class and ethnicities providing a relevant and functional truth that can be applied to everyday life.
