About Diana Olick
Diana Olick Biography
Diana Olick is an Emmy Award-winning journalist who is now the real estate reporter for CNBC and the author of the CNBC.com Reality Check segment. She also offers her real estate knowledge to NBC's Today and NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams. Prior to joining CNBC in 2002, Olick worked for CBS News for seven years as a correspondent. Olick worked as a local news reporter for WABI-TV in Bangor, Maine, WZZM-TV in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and KIRO-TV in Seattle. She began her career at CBS in 1994 as a journalist for the CBS Evening News with Dan Rather and The Early Show from New York. She's also written for 48 Hours and Sunday Morning. She covered events including the World Trade Center conspiracy trial and the Boston abortion clinic shooting during that period. As a Dallas bureau correspondent in 1995, Olick was assigned to cover the Midwest. She covered many types of natural disasters during her three years there, including the TWA Flight 800 tragedy, the JonBenet Ramsey murder investigation, and the trial of Oklahoma City bomber Terry Nichols as the exclusive reporter. She also took a temporary job at CBS' Moscow bureau around that time, when she covered Mikhail Gorbachev's brief presidential campaign. In 1998, Olick was moved to the New York office before being dispatched to Bahrain in preparation for a possible second Gulf War. She traveled to Albania a year later to chronicle the US military buildup during the Kosovo conflict. Olick was transferred to CBS' Washington bureau and the Capitol Hill beat upon her return. Olick covered First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton's Senate campaign in 2000 and then joined the Bush campaign as a special correspondent for The Early Show. She was chosen Supreme Court correspondent in the fall of that year, and her first case was Bush v. Gore. Olick graduated from Columbia College in New York with a B.A. in comparative literature and a minor in Soviet studies, as well as a master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism.
