Dennis Rainey Biography

Dennis Rainey is president, CEO and cofounder of FamilyLife, a division of Campus Crusade for Christ. Dennis earned a degree in business administration from the University of Arkansas and a master's degree in Biblical studies from Dallas Theological Seminary. He also holds an honorary doctorate from Trinity Evangelical University and Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois.

Dennis married his wife Barbara in 1972, and together they began a personal and creative collaboration that is still ongoing more than 35 years later. FamilyLife has grown into a dynamic and vital ministry that offers families blueprints for living godly lives.

Dennis has written and co-written more than a dozen books including Staying Close, selected in 1990 as an outstanding book on marriage and family. In addition, he has received two Golden Medallion Awards from the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association. He serves as the senior editor of the HomeBuilders Couples Series®, developed by Dennis and Barbara to help people throughout the world enrich their marriages through an exploration of scripture-based principles.

Works the Raineys have co-written include: Building Your Mate’s Self-Esteem, Growing a Spiritually Strong Family, Parenting Today’s Adolescent, Pressure Proof Your Marriage, Rekindling the Romance, Starting Your Marriage Right, Two Hearts Praying as One, and Moments with You, a devotional book for couples.

Dennis can be heard daily as co-host of the nationally syndicated radio program FamilyLife Today™. For his work in radio, Dennis is a two-time recipient of the National Religious Broadcasters Radio Program of the Year Award. Barbara has been a frequent guest on FamilyLife Today. She also speaks at the organization’s popular Weekend to Remember® marriage events.

Dennis has spoken not only at FamilyLife Conferences across the United States and internationally, but also for Promise Keepers events, YPO University, Fellowship Forum and at FamilyLife's I Still Do® and Rekindling the Romance® events. He has testified on family issues before Congress and has appeared on numerous radio and television programs, including CNN, Life Today, Marriage Today, and FamilyLife Canada's Marriage Uncensored. He has also served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA).

Dennis and Barbara have been married for 35 years and live near Little Rock, Arkansas. They have six children and more than a dozen grandchildren.
