Demetri Martin left NYU School of Law to make a career in comedy. Since then, he's performed in almost every English-speaking country in the globe (excluding South Africa and New Zealand) and received comedy awards in the United States, Scotland, and Australia. Martin worked as a staff writer for Conan O'Brien's Late Night and has performed on several late-night television shows, both onstage and in the audience. These Are Jokes, his stand-up CD/DVD, was published by Comedy Central Records, and his Trendspotting with Demetri Martin was a featured piece on Jon Stewart's Emmy and Peabody Award-winning The Daily Show. Martin was the subject of his own one-hour Comedy Central stand-up special, Demetri Martin. Important Things with Demetri Martin, a combination of original sketch and stand-up, aired on Comedy Central for two seasons. Martin appeared in the Ang Lee film Taking Woodstock in 2009.
