Dayna Devon Biography

Dayna Devon is a correspondent for the nationally syndicated entertainment show Extra.  She joined the program in July 1999 as weekend co-anchor and primary weekday correspondent.  She later became the shows substitute anchor and was named permanent anchor in September 2003.  This year, Devon transitioned into a correspondent role for the program, specializing in major celebrity interviews and celebrity lifestyle reporting, requesting the newly redefined duties in order to be able to spend more time with her two young children, both under the age of three years.

Devon joined Extra after spending more than a decade in television news.  In 1997, she was hired as a general-assignment reporter for WPTY-TV, the ABC affiliate in Memphis, Tennessee.  Within a year, she was promoted to anchor for three of the stations primary newscasts.  With Devon as anchor, the station enjoyed a significant ratings growth “ as high as 300 on some shows.  In 1998, her team earned an Emmy Award for Best Live Broadcast.

Devon has also served as anchor for ABCs KMID-TV in Midland, Texas, and the CBS affiliate, KLST-TV, in San Angelo, Texas.

She began her career in radio, working as weekend anchor for KTSA-AM in San Antonio.

Devon is a regular entertainment commentator for CNN, Fox News Channel, MSNBC and The TV Guide Channel.  She has been a celebrity guest host on The View and has been featured on NBCs Today Show as well as CBS The Early Show.

In 2007, she made multiple appearances on NBCs hit-show Phenomenon. She appeared this past summer on The Food Networks Next Food Network Star.  Additionally, last season she appeared as herself in an episode of CBS CSI and has been featured in People, US Weekly, In Touch, Star, Self, Ladies Home Journal, Fit Pregnancy, OK!, Cookie, Life & Style, First Magazine and Womans World.

In 2007, Devon hosted the childrens charity gala Harmony with No Limits and for the past two years she has hosted Mattels Little Mommy tea parties.

In recent years, she has been a celebrity model for the fashion fundraiser Race to Erase MS and has served as a spokesperson for the organization, Teachers Count. In 2006 and 2005, Devon hosted Ladies Home Journal magazines Funny Ladies We Love event and in 2004 she co-hosted More magazines Alpha Woman Award, honoring Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton.  Also, the past three years, Devon hosted Hollywood Lifes Stylemakers Awards.  She previously co-hosted Movieline magazines annual Hollywood Style Hall of Fame Awards.

A native of Texas, Devon graduated from of the University of Texas at San Antonio.  She lives in Los Angeles with her husband and two children.
