David Drucker Biography

David J. Drucker has worked in the financial services business for over 25 years. He is co-author of The One Thing... You Need to Do As Told by the Financial Advisory Industry's Top Coaches, Consultants, and Visionaries (The Financial Advisor Literary Guild, 2005), The Tools & Techniques of Practice Management (The National Underwriter Company, 2004), and Virtual Office Tools for a High-Margin Practice: How Client-Centered Financial Advisors Can Cut Paperwork, Overhead, and Wastage (The National Underwriter Company, 2004). (Bloomberg Press, 2002). He is also the editor of the Virtual Office News newsletter, which is published once a month. As a contributor to Financial Advisor, Financial Planning, Research, and Wealth Manager publications, as well as a monthly writer for MorningstarAdvisor.com and NAPFA Advisor, and as co-founder of Practice Lifecycle LLC, David writes about practice management problems for financial advisors. David assists advisors in preparing their practices for succession by assisting them in identifying and negotiating with potential, well-matched merger/acquisition candidates, as well as demonstrating how to use strategic technology to increase the profitability of their pre-or post-succession entity. In addition to writing and consulting, David is a financial adviser who founded his own business in the Washington, D.C. region in 1981 after more than 10 years as a financial analyst in the government and private sector. As President of Sunset Financial Management, Inc., a state-registered consulting business in Albuquerque, New Mexico, he continues to manage the financial affairs of a select group of high-net-worth customers. David has been a member of the Financial Organizing Association and the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) for many years and has served on the NAPFA regional board of directors and in conference planning positions. Financial Planning magazine readers named him to its 2003 list of Movers, Shakers, and Decision-Makers, and Worth magazine named him one of the Best Financial Advisors in the United States every year from the beginning of the Worth survey in 1994 until 2001 when Drucker reduced his financial planning activities. For his services to the fee-only financial planning sector, he received the NAPFA Distinguished Service Award in May 1996. He is the creator of the INTEGRATE financial planning program, which he and other financial advisers utilize all throughout the country. PlanWare, Inc. is presently developing and distributing the product. Drucker also serves on the finance committee of the American Society of Journalists and Authors, as well as the Rydex Funds' Skip Viragh Award Advisory Board. Volunteer work with the Animal Humane Association of New Mexico and the New Mexico Youth Diagnostic and Development Center, where youth offenders are assigned to the care of shelter dogs in order to promote the rehabilitation and growth of both species, are among Drucker's community service activities. Helping Everyone Reach Out in Community Service (H.E.R.O.I.C.S.) honored him for his volunteer efforts in 2003.
