The New York Times dubbed David Adjmi virtuoso, Vogue named him one of the greatest and most unique theatrical artists of his age, and The New Yorker named him one of the Top Ten in Culture. With Daniel Aukin and Will Butler, he is developing his play Stereophonic (Arcade Fire). SAVE US, SUPERMAN!, his memoir, will be published by HarperCollins in 2015, and 1789 / 1978, his second collection of plays, will be published by TCG in 2015. Marie Antoinette, his world premiere co-production with A.R.T. and Yale Rep, was widely appreciated. Three Connecticut Critics Circle Awards were given to the play, including Best Play. This season, Marie Antoinette had its world debut at Soho Rep and was seen at Steppenwolf, Woolly Mammoth, and other theatres across the world. In June 2012, 3C had its world debut at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater (with Rising Phoenix and Piece by Piece Productions), and the New York Times called it "the most contentious and provocative play of the season." The Post, Time Out New York, and the Advocate all named 3C as one of the best 10 plays of 2012. Elective Affinities, which had its world debut at the Royal Shakespeare Company, had its U.S. premiere at Soho Rep (with Rising Phoenix and Piece by Piece Productions) in December, starring Zoe Caldwell (Top 10 of the year in Time Out New York, New Yorker). Stunning (LCT3/Lincoln Center Theater, Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company), The Evildoers (Sundance, Yale Repertory Theatre), Caligula (Soho Rep Studio Series), and Strange Attractors (Soho Rep Studio Series) are among the other plays. David has received numerous awards, including the Mellon Foundation Playwrights Residency, the Guggenheim Fellowship, the Whiting Writers' Award, the Kesselring Prize for Drama, the Steinberg Playwright Award (the "Mimi"), McKnight and Jerome fellowships, the Helen Merrill Award, the Marian Seldes-Garson Kanin Fellowship, the Fadiman Prize, and the Bush Artists Fellowship. The American Academy of Rome, the Bogliasco Foundation, The MacDowell Colony, Corporation of Yaddo, and Ucross have all given him residencies. Lincoln Center Theater, Yale Repertory Theater, Berkeley Repertory Theater, the Royal Court (UK), and the Center Theatre Group have all given him commissions. David has been on panels for organizations such as the Luminato Festival, the National Endowment for the Arts, the McKnight Foundation, and the Massachusetts Cultural Council, among others. At the Iowa Playwrights Workshop, Harvard University, Yale School of Drama, Rutgers University, Primary Stages, NYU, Mark Taper Forum, CalArts, Southampton Writers Conference, and the University of Rochester, he has taught workshops and seminars. New Dramatists, the Dramatists Guild, the MCC Theater Playwrights' Coalition, and Soho Theatre's "The Hub" are among his affiliations. TCG released Stunning and Other Plays, a compilation of David's work, and his work is included in The Methuen Drama Book of New American Plays.
