Dave Karger Biography

Dave Karger is an award-winning host, interviewer, and entertainment expert who has been live on NBC's Today program over 170 times and often as an expert and correspondent on E! and Access Hollywood. Dave was honored with the Publicists Guild Press Award in 2015, which recognizes the best entertainment journalist of the year. He was selected to OUT Magazine's OUT 100 list in 2014, which recognizes the most prominent persons in the LGBT community. Dave has also been on Today, Access Hollywood Live, and Turner Classic Movies as a guest host. Dave was the Chief Correspondent at Fandango from 2012 to 2016, where he hosted the original video programs The Frontrunners and Weekend Ticket. The Frontrunners was nominated for a Webby Award for Best Variety Series in 2013. Dave worked as a senior writer at Entertainment Weekly for 17 years, writing over 50 cover stories about celebrities such as George Clooney, Angelina Jolie, Elton John, Taylor Swift, Johnny Depp, Denzel Washington, and Carrie Underwood. He also oversaw the magazine's and EW.com's Oscar coverage. Dave was only the third individual to ever serve as the Academy's official red-carpet greeting on Oscar night in 2012 and 2013. He also co-hosted the 2011 Oscars Digital Experience, which earned the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media (produced by The Academy and ABC). He has been on the juries of the TriBeCa Film Festival, the Los Angeles Film Festival, the South By Southwest Film Festival, and the Florida Film Festival. Dave received his bachelor's degree with honors from Duke University.
